As well as the larger projects that we support with our charitable funds, we often support a number of smaller projects which can still be hugely impactful for our patients treated here at Lancashire Teaching Hopsitals Trust.

One of these is the purchase of a number of patient mirrors for Ward 3 at Royal Preston Hospital, so our laryngectomy patients are able to care for and clean their Laryngectomees. This is a vital part of their recovery and patients can not be discharged until they can complete this.

The mirrors need to be freestanding and moveable so patients can get different angles to help with cleaning tasks. Patient mirrors like these give them the independence to practice and care for their laryngectomy stomas as they need.

The mirrors were funded by a donation from a previous laryngectomy patient for the ward, which shows the positive difference charitable donations can make!
