Digitalising & Updating Our Pain Management Services

Project cost: £3,733.20

Pain Management Services and its patients will now be able to benefit from the digitalisation of the department, including improvements to its group room, the Ashton Suite.

Money raised through charitable funds are for those added extras that make a real difference to the thousands of patients cared for at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals every year.

These funds have allowed us to introduce a TV screen for the patient waiting area at our Pain Management Services Department. The installation has helped to modernise the clinic, and allows patients to be entertained and distracted before their consultation – therefore creating a more calming environment.

The TV also helps to reduce the risk of private, confidential conversations being accidently overheard, and it also has a subtitle function so that patients with hearing difficulties can also benefit from a much-needed distraction whilst they wait for their appointments.

The Pain Management Team also required an update to their digital systems, and the installation of an AV System in their group room at the Ashton Suite at Royal Preston Hospital. This installation has allowed them to continue their pain management programmes with patient educational groups, and their mindfulness courses, in a socially distanced manner.

The total cost of the digital improvements came to £3,733.20, which was kindly funded with a grant from NHS Charities Together.

Thank you so much to all of the wonderful fundraisers and donors for ensuring this could happen. Without you we wouldn’t be able to make such amazing projects possible.
