Fundraiser Lucy’s eggs-tra surprise from company staff

There was an eggs-tra special treat for Children’s Appeal fundraiser Lucy Clark when she visited an Easter market at the Arco Clothing Centre in Fulwood to collect a donation of £2,512.76 from company staff.

Not only did members of the firm’s charity committee hand over a cheque for that amount, committee chair and operations manager Pam Walmsley also announced an additional £640 for the appeal from the sale of Easter toys, door wreaths, cards, cakes and other treats, which colleagues had made and donated to be sold at the market.

Pam said: “It was a great event and we had some lovely Easter gifts and decorations. Thank you to everyone for supporting it.”

Staff at the clothing centre, who work to brand workwear, have supported Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Charity, which is running the Children’s Appeal, since 2020. They raise funds by organsing dress down days, raffles, sales, fun competitions and sponsored events such as their Guild Wheel cycle challenge later this month.

Lucy said: “We are extremely grateful to everyone at the Arco Clothing Centre for their wonderful support. We know staff vote on which local charity to fundraise for, so it means a lot to us in the charity team and to everyone who works for the Trust that they have chosen to back our work.”

The charity team’s Children’s Appealis aiming to raise £1 million for a wish list of items to bring about a raft of improvements to children’s in and outpatients at the Royal Preston Hospital, Chorley and South Ribble Hospital and Leyland’s Broadoaks Child Development Centre, as well as all other children’s facilities managed by Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
