Charity Jingle Jog Bell to be forerunner of Christmas Countdown

Preston’s countdown to Christmas has a new forerunner this year – a family Jingle Bell Jog that takes place on Sunday, 26th November, to raise funds for Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Charity’s Children’s Appeal.

The one mile fun run, sponsored by specialist neurological rehabilitation provider PSP, starts at noon on the all-weather running track at UCLAN Sports Arena in Tom Benson Way.

Appeal fundraiser Lucy Clark, who launched the event last year, said: “We have brought the run forward by a couple of weeks to just before the start of Advent because our inaugural Jingle Bell Jog scheduled for mid December last year had to be postponed until January due to ice!

“We had picture perfect Christmas card weather – a crisp, sunny day but unfortunately, the frosty nip made the sports arena car park, walkways and even the track itself slippy so we’re hoping the earlier date will mean the jog will happen as planned this year with everyone in Christmas fancy dress running to the best Christmas music.”

Participation costs £3 per person or £10 for a family of four. There is also sign up on the day from 11 am. The sports arena has changing facilities, toilets and a café serving hot drinks and snacks. There will also be some special Jingle Bell Jog visitors to hand out prizes.
