Blackburn toy importer and supplier Heathside currently has a sales team at Germany’s Nuremberg Toy Fair to showcase what might be topping children’s Christmas wish lists this coming December but for Christmas just gone, it made dreams come true much closer to home.
The company, which has a warehouse and showroom on Walker Park, donated hundreds of toys to the charity team at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust for its give a gift project to ensure all patients (adults and children) in Chorley and South Ribble and the Royal Preston Hospitals on Christmas Day had a present to open.
The charity team were tasked with collecting more than 1,000 gifts. Dan Hill, head of charities for the trust, said: “It was a huge ask given that we are in the midst of a cost of living crisis and we had to rely entirely on the generosity of local businesses and members of the public.
“Thanks to Heathside, children on Ward 8, the Children’s Ward at the Royal Preston Hospital, had fantastic gifts to open. The company donated pallet loads of toys that brought a lot of joy and happiness to the ward’s young patients and their families. We are extremely grateful to Heathside and all of its staff for their very generous donation.”
The donated toys were also shared among children on the hospital’s day case unit, paediatric assessment unit and those visiting children’s outpatient clinics over the festive period.
