The Critical Care Therapy team at Royal Preston Hospital now have a whole host of games and activities to help patients rehabilitating after spending time in the Critical Care unit. The resources were funded by Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Charity at a cost of £120 and include dominoes, playing cards, bean bags, spine balls, colouring books and pencils, a tablet holder and even Connect 4!

Research suggests that early rehabilitation improves mental, cognitive, functional and physical rehabilitation for patients leaving critical care. The activities and games funded by the charity will enhance patients’ rehab experience by making it more fun, engaging and person-centred. The resources can be used by patients with support from the Therapy team, with a member of the nursing team, or on their own.
