The Avondale Ward at Royal Preston Hospital has received ten bluetooth radios funded by Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Charity at a cost of £322.80.

The radios, for each bay in the ward, help keep patients entertained throughout their stay.

Ward Manager Amanda Jolly says, “The radios are a great boost to our patients, helping them to relax and giving them some enjoyment. The music often gets our patients chatting with staff and other patients about what kind of music they enjoy and discussing memories it brings. Some of our patients even like have a little move around to the music!”

Avondale Ward patient Kathleen Hattemore says, “I enjoy listening to music and having the radios on the ward really helps to pass the days and lift my spirits.”

Paula Wilson, Head of Charities at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals says, “It’s a privilege to be able to fund projects that make a difference to patients and their wellbeing. These radios certainly do this.”
