Supporting families and friends of those who have lost loved ones is seen as a priority by Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Charity.  So, when Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust’s Mortuary Team wanted funding for a refurbishment of the unit’s viewing area and relatives’ room, the Charity were delighted to be able to help. 

The Mortuary viewing rooms hadn’t been updated for some time, they were tired and uncomfortable.  Thanks to the help of Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Charity, the spaces have been transformed with beautiful wall murals at a cost of £7,388.

Danielle Lucas, Senior Anatomical Pathology Technician said, “The mortuary relatives’ room and viewing area are used by around 300 families of loved ones every year, it’s really important to us that we offer a calm and comfortable space in their time of grief”

Paula Wilson, Head of Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Charity, added, “We are delighted to support this very important project. By providing comfortable surroundings for families to say goodbye to someone they love, we hope to make things that little bit easier, and help them in their grief.”
