Children attending the Children’s Outpatients Clinic at RPH will now be able to enjoy two brand new iPads funded by LTHC, with a generous donation from a local business, and at a cost of £1,104.

With dozens of children attending the clinic each day, the new iPads will also be welcomed by parents and staff in helping to distract children whilst they wait for their appointment or results, or during, sometimes uncomfortable, procedures such as blood tests, ECGs and skin prick tests.

Emily Moore, Children’s Clinic Manager says, “The iPads we were previously using were old and unreliable so parents sometimes used their own phones to try to distract their child.  Unfortunately the signal is poor in our clinic so it could often take time to load the apps leading to children becoming unsettled and as a result their appointment taking longer.  The new iPads will be quicker to use and have a variety of child friendly apps installed so there will be something for all ages.”

Paula Wilson, Head of Charities says, “The ipads were purchased following a very generous donation from a local business which wanted to support our Children’s Appeal, they will make a huge difference to children attending our clinics, providing a little comfort and entertainment while they wait.”
