Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Charity has funded symbolic purple butterfly bags for the bereaved families of patients at the Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Trust.  The bags can be used by families to take home their loved one’s belongings following their passing. 

Natalie Clough, End of Life and Bereavement Specialist Nurse says, ”The bags symbolise that someone is bereaved, so our staff can provide care wherever they are in our hospitals, from a friendly smile, to caring support and help finding their way through the hospital.

Bereavement is everyone’s business and these bags are a small part of the bereavement care we provide at Lancashire Teaching Hospital, and are very much appreciated by families.”

Paula Wilson, Head of Charities says, “Supporting the bereavement process by providing butterfly bags for our patients’ family or next of kin is a small but very special gesture. I hope the bags bring a little dignity for bereaved families, offering some support at a very difficult time.”
